The Work
We have been accepted to join World Gospel Missions in serving street children in Honduras. According to UNICEF, there are more than 100 million street children in the world. 40 million of these kids live in Latin America, where 60% of all children live in poverty. A large majority of them are addicted to drugs and forced to join gangs to survive. Most of them are forced to the street by alcoholic or abusive parents who couldn't afford to take care of them. We will be working at a project which rescues children from the streets by providing them with shelter, food, and the love Christ provides.
We will be serving at the Manuelito Project as parental figures to approximately 40 children. There is an immediate need for a permanent couple at the project. However, our main ministry will be to love and care for the kids. We hope to teach them, play with them, and help them grow in their spiritual walk. The shelter is on a farm where the children are given responsibilities and taught practical skills. They are schooled and given the amazing opportunity to attend professional schools when they are at the appropriate age. We will be coming alongside the children to offer support and encouragement. We also have a desire to instill in the children a sense of community involvement and would like to teach them to care for those living around them.
As our ministry progresses we will develop more ways for people get involved with these children. The Manuelito Project is literally changing lives. Kids that had no hope for the future are given so much – health, love, an education, and the message of Jesus Christ. Will you join us in supporting this life-changing ministry?
