First week

Wow! It’s already been a week!? It’s definitely flown by. We are loving so much about being here in Honduras! Our apartment, the other missionaries, the Pinto family, the food, football (soccer) on TV (OK, this might just be me
), and of course the manuelito children!!! We’ve had an eventful first week but it has been a ton of fun!
We’re starting to settle into things. This Monday we will start language school which will be in the mornings. We’re both excited and nervous about this. Please pray that I pick up the language very quickly and that Ash doesn’t have to be in for long!
On Tuesday we went out to Talanga for the first time in over a year. It was INCREDIBLE!!!
Everything about it felt right. Many of the children remembered us and were saying our names as we approached them. We got many hugs! The staff were so welcoming and were so happy that we are finally in Honduras and will be able to help them soon! We can’t wait to finally be out there!!

The new school in Talanga. Mauricio and Helga Ruth are doing such a great job at running it!

They were learning traditional Honduran dances

In typical fashion the children broke the water spout and water was shooting EVERYWHERE! It was funny to watch. ![]()
On Thursday we called up Jorgito and spent the day with him at the transition house. Last year the transition house was still in the church, so it was great to see the new building they are in and meet the new boys! We even got to be there to pick up Jose Enrique, a new kid to the project!
That night we went with Jorgito and Ruth to Helga Esther’s house for dinner. It is such an answer to prayer that we already have great friends here that we are comfortable with! Praise God!!
Today we are having lunch with Helga Ruth and Mauricio, and for dinner we’re joining Helga Ester and Melim. If you can’t tell we’re a fan of the Pinto family ![]()
Please keep us in your prayers during the next few months. While we are settling in well culture shock is bound to catch up with us eventually! Also please pray that we are able to fund a vehicle. We thought we had enough to buy one but we currently only have an extra $4,000. Cars here are expensive but we’ll need one to be able to drive back and forth from Tegucigalpa and Talanga. We know God will provide though! ![]()
God bless!
